Depends. At times, yes of course he is. He's certainly a prude in many ways, and it can be quite irritating to get lectured on not swearing, especially when he's doing it to a character who's the same age as him and has no wish to be treated like a child.

By whom? His family loves him. His friends loved him, in the way of friends, but again most of his friends have just . . . drifted away.

Yup. He deserves it, certainly-- although of course he doesn't think that.
